If you ask 100 homeschooling families why they chose to home school, you’ll probably get 103 different answers. If you ask about the benefits of homeschooling, you’re likely to discover our common ground.

One of the benefits of homeschooling is flexibility. It is school – set to the tempo of your life.

Our goal at Rubato Learning is to come alongside families who wish to augment their home- or after-school education with Fine Arts and Enrichment experiences. We offer a large selection of music, drama, art, language, and specialty classes to interest both children and adults.

Check out our schedule! Registration is open for our Fall 2012 Semester!

New Drama Class Spring 2013

Drama II

Does your older child want to be a part of a drama class, but need extra guidance to stay on task and understand the acting process?  We are offering a new drama class at Rubato Learning geared toward the older student who may struggle with aspects of a regular drama class, like learning lines, paying attention, expressing emotions or recognizing cues.  In this class, a parent or attendant is required to be present and assist the student unless teacher approval is obtained.  As a class, we will explore what makes a good story, create characters, and write our own play.  We will study ways to make characters come to life on stage using our faces and bodies and voices, and practice and perform our play for an audience.  Each part of the dramatic process will be broken down and explained and practiced separately.  We will also play games that help us to be better performers and laugh a lot and enjoy each other's company.

The class is geared toward students age 13 and up.  It will meet at Shenandoah Baptist Church on Thursdays from 2:30 to 4:30 PM beginning on January 10, 2013.  Performance of the play will be sometime in May.  Cost is $200 per student plus a $45 registration fee per family.  Each student must be accompanied by an adult family member or attendant unless approval for an exception is obtained from the drama teacher.  (No extra charge for the adult.)

New! Suzuki Violin Group Class

Suzuki Violin Group Class for ages 4-7

This class, geared towards children ages 4-7, uses the Suzuki Method to teach beginning violin.  Students will learn the basics of proper posture, left hand position, bow hold, and tone production, as well as developing their musical ear through listening and singing.  However, there's more! The difficulties presented in learning the violin are many, and require daily practice and effort (like many worthwhile things in life).   Yet with the support of parent and teacher, any student who genuinely strives to follow practicing guidelines as given in lessons will learn to play their instrument with ease, musicality, and joy.
